Spring is near! 2026

Like many persons that live in a cold winter zone, our family was very excited to see that the extended outlook for this week is going to be well above freezing. That means a few things around a farm with animals. Obviously, we will intently enjoy the warm sun on exposed skin, as opposed to the abrasive cold wind. Secondly, the snow melt will give us a chance to clean any outdoor areas the animals have frequented. Lastly, it is the beginning of mud season. That point of the season, is not so much held in high esteem.

Rubber boot time!

Remember, parasites cab survive freezing temperatures and stay active in soil for YEARS. Bleach does not inactivate all parasites, so use an animal approved disinfectant and of course follow the directions on the label.

Essentially, it’s a good week to do some deep cleaning wherever possible. Stay on top of it, and the rest will be easy.

Short hair and small breeds are particularly susceptible to cold temperatures. Research carefully.
